Garofoli

Garofoli is a story of people and of a family that has been identified with winemaking for five generations.
“ Now in its fifth generation, Garofoli is a huge estate by Marche standards, with 42 hectares of vines and annual production of over 2 million bottles, but one that manages to combine volume and quality as few other estates do in ltaly. The family has been cultivat- ing vineyards for roughly a century and a half, but it was with the advent of Gianfranco and Carlo Garofoli that the wines improved markedly and grabbed the market’s attention. This estate has had a huge role in putting the wines of the Marche on the quality wine map. And unlike other Marche estates, the family has been successful not just with Verdicchio ( their wines with this grape variety are among the best of the region ) but also with Montepulciano and Sangiovese, red grapes that didn’t always give the greatest results in this part of ltaly. Garofoli’s was one of the best lineups of wines from the Marche that l tried this year.”
