Domaine du Salvard has been working since about 1900. It is beautifully located in the heart of the Cheverny appellation, between Tours and Orléans. The vineyard has grown through the years, from 10 hectares in 1965 to 45 hectares today. Even though the appellation includes both white and red wines, the Delaille brothers produce mostly white wines with 90% of white grapes (Sauvi- gnon Blanc and Chardonnay) and 10% of red ones (Pinot Noir and Gamay). They produce classic Cheverny wines that are both simple and elegant. The brothers have also contributed to the modernization of their family estate by implementing tempera- ture-controlled equipment for a better vinification as well as a more sustainable approach. Cheverny became an AOC in 1993. Many people believe these Sauvignon Blanc wines are among the very best of the Loire – perhaps even rivaling with the more famous appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume.
